Meeting Notes
May 2010
The May 2010 meeting
of the St. John's Austin Healey Club was held on May 3, 2010 at the home
of Andy and Judy Sanfilippo. Andy gave the treasurer's
report and we have a balance of $$$$$$ in our account.
We had a new member attend this meeting. Please add him to your roster. David
Morton (wife Angela), 501 Robles Lane, Ponte Vedra Beach FL 32082, Phone: 904-285-8420.
Cell:864-979-1844, Email: karmodeler2@aol.com. Welcome Dave and we look forward
to meeting Angela.
Bill Young advised that he has talked to Greg Russell and he is interested
in selling his Healey. Also, the Club members will be helping to get Andy Norton's
car up and running and read to sell.
Discussion was held on the Legends on the Green car show held at TPC in Sawgrass,
on April 24th. Following is a report written by Andy Sanfilippo. Thanks Andy.
" Well, there was a very good showing of Austin Healey's at this show. In
total there were eight from Sprites to 3000's. As a matter of fact, there were
more
Healey's than Jaguars in their age category. David Morton received a trophy
for his wonderfully restored 1966 BJ8. Keep in mind that this was just best
on looks! The Jaguar Club looks at Healey's as second rate car compared to
theirs (my personal opinion). Bill and Judy Young spent the night at the hotel
and attended the banquet where Bill was an alleged guest speaker. That was
just gossip that was going around during the show.
As for the facilities, there was a lot to be desired. Instead of the cars being
parked in front of the club house, we were pushed off to a parking lot down
the hill from the club. It was hot with very few places near the cars to hide
from the sun. Most of the members who attended said they would not go back
if it is held there again. The Jaguar Club had very poor signage out on A1A
and as a result very few people came through the Sawgrass guard gate to see
the show. That was very disappointing. Basically, all agreed that this is really
a Jag show and not much more."
John Leenhouts announced plans for those attending the Southeastern Classic
in Ocala on May 13-16. So far those planning to attend are John & Nancy
Leenhouts, Bill Young, Tony Martini, Gail & Dyaarl Anderson, Rick & Marilynn
Stevenson and Andy Sanfilippo. We will have a full report in next month's newsletter.
