Monthly Meeting Notes
March 2010

The March 2010 meeting of the St. John's Austin Healey Club was held on March 1, 2010 at the home of Vicki and Gary Martz. In attendance were Vicki & Gary, John & Nancy Leenhouts, Bill Young, Erling & Sandy Onsager, Rick & Marilynn Stevenson, Tony Martini, Steve Kelly, Bill Blackard and Cindy Bridger. Thanks so much for hosting Vicki & Gary.

Our treasurer was not in attendance, but did send our bank balance. We have $$$$ in our account as of March 1st.

A report was given on our annual Valentine Brunch drive up to Jekyll Island Club on Sunday, February 14th. Nineteen people attended and John advised that everyone was on time and they were on schedule for the drive. Sounds like the drive up and back was fine, but the brunch wasn't quite up to par from years past. Several reasons for this and John advised that the manager has assured him that if we give them another chance they will make it worth while.

On February 27th, the following drove their Healeys down to The Villages for their 2010 Vintage & Custom Car Show: John Leenhouts, Dyaarl Anderson, Bill Young, Tony Martini, Erling Onsager and Jeff Sager. The guys said they had a good time, but it was cold and rainy. There were 250 cars in the show.

We were reminded that the Concourse de'Elegance will be held March 11-14 at Amelia Island. We always have several members attend this unbelievable event.

Also, on Saturday, March 20th the Orange Park Kennel Club Car Show will be held. If interested, contact John or Nancy Leenhouts; and on Sunday, March 21st there will be a Shop Meet at Rick Stevenson's garage, 1 PM - let him know if you will be attending.

Following is a report on our Annual Pub Crawl to be held on March 28, 2010. Please let Bill Young or Tony Martini know if you will be attending:


Well folks it is time for our third annual Pub Crawl. It will be held on Sunday March 28th. We will meet at Shannon's on the corner of San Jose (rt13) and Race Track Rd in Julington Creek at 12 noon sharp. We will depart at 12:15 and drive South on County Rd 13 to Rt 16 . We will head West on 16 crossing the Shands Bridge into Green Cove Springs. We will proceed into Green Cove Springs to Ron"s Wings which is one block off the St John's river. After having some lunch and a drink of choice we will take Rt 16 East back across the Shands to Rt 13 then South to Rt 208. We will take 208 East to Rt 1 just north of St Augustine. We will head North and stop at the Kings Head Pub for some hydration and more pleasant conversation. At the appropriate time we will leave and depart North on Rt 1 to Race Track Rd. those of us living West of Rt 1 will head West on Race Track and those living North can proceed on Rt 1.
This route should give us a pleasant and scenic ride with each leg being of moderate duration. Actually it will be a mighty fine ride so plan on joining Bill Young and I. Please let us know if you plan on attending.

Gary and Paul both gave reports on the restoration of their cars. Bill Young suggested that if you are planning on going to the SE Classic in Ocala on May 13-16 you get your registration in as several members have already done so. Registration forms can be found at www.tbahc.com . Nancy told us about the British Car Night at the Jacksonville Suns baseball game on June 26th.

Our next meeting will be held on April 5, 2010 at Wild Wings Cafe in Tinseltown across from Hooters. Dinner at 6:30 PM and meeting at 7:30 PM.
